Founders & Faith: A 300-Year Celebration

This year—2026—not only celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of our country, but it also marks an incredible milestone for the Presbyterian faith, the Great Awakening, and the beloved community in which we live, as it commemorates the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church by Rev. William Tennent, Sr.

To honor both the Church and its founder, the William Tennent House Association is privileged to invite you (as well as your family and friends) to a special, once-in-a-lifetime banquet!

Join us and our very special guest speaker Dr. Timothy Tennent, a direct descendent of William Tennent, for his presentation A small seed leading to a great harvest, where he will tell the story of William Tennent and how his vision for theological education has changed the world. Dinner & Beverages will be served, friends will be made, and the discussions will be pertinent and lively!

Meet the Presenter

Dr. Tennent serves as the Chair of Methodist Divinity at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. He teaches in the areas of world Christianity and missions. Prior to that he served as the President of Asbury Theological Seminary from 2009 to 2024. Prior to his service at Asbury he served as the professor of world Christianity and Indian Studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. His PhD is from University of Edinburgh, focused on the Christian response to Hinduism. He also earned a ThM degree from Princeton Seminary in Islam.

He is the author of a number of books and textbooks on missions and world Christianity, including Christianity at the Religious Roundtable, Theology in the Context of World Christianity and Invitation to World Missions. He is also the author of a metrical psalter and the book, For the Body, which focuses on the positive Christian vision for the body. He has taught annually in India since 1988 and is a frequent speaker around the world. He is currently writing a textbook on World Religions.
